Travelling sam interview With Sabrina must

Today we have the amazing opportunity to interview Sabrina from Sabrina Must.

Hi, Sabrina, could you tell us all a little bit about yourself?

I’m Sabrina from SabrinaMust.com, a blog about living more passionately and having more fun! I share about my travels, something I hope to inspire readers to do themselves because travel is all about experiencing newness to provoke growth. When we’re in new environments, out of our routines, around people unlike us, we’re forced to embrace change and marvel in and celebrate difference.

That’s a great perspective to have. Where is home for you?

I’m based in San Diego, California, and I was raised in the Detroit suburbs.

Where in the world are you right now?

I’m in San Diego right now, and am starting to plan out traveling in South America all winter, with a couple smaller trips from now ‘til then!

Okay, a very tough question, but what is your favourite country?

VERY tough, as each time I visit a country I’m at a different place emotionally and mentally, so my perspective shifts trip to trip. However, as a lover of sunshine, warmth, and the ocean, I probably will lean toward Thailand because the country is so diverse. I can get my beach time, while fly an hour or so north to enjoy the mountains and tiny towns.

What was your least favourite place? Why?

I didn’t love Hanoi, Vietnam. I found the people very bitter and mean, and while those who guided us around Ha Long Bay were super sweet, the general population in the city were not very kind. This was 10 years ago, so things may have changed.

What is the strangest journey that you have taken?

Strangest is hard, I’ve had a lot of random, thrilling adventures, but let’s say “strangest” is unique, and that was Rwanda. Very few people get the chance to hike to the mountain gorillas, interact with a pygmy community, and learn more about the genocide from locals. I’m extremely thankful for that experience!

That sounds like a real experience, but what has been the best experience that you have had whilst travelling?

The past couple years I have travelled with my dog Monkey. She’s a pug and everyone adores her. Wherever we go, locals and fellow travellers embrace her sweetness, and that has been one of the best parts of traveling. I love having her as my travel companion!

What is the scariest encounter that you have had whilst travelling?

I was almost arrested in Guatemala for indecent exposure…. All I could think was, ‘Please don’t tell my dad why!’ Haha.

What is your number one ‘bucket list’ item that you haven’t yet done?

Play footvolley in Brazil with the locals. I’ve been dreaming of that since I was 20 when I played footvolley with Brazilians in Barcelona.

Do you have a packing list? How much does your luggage weigh?

I am a decently light packer. Sabrinamust.com/what-to-pack is typically what I bring. A few summer dresses (handwash-able), pair of spandex and a tank top, sneakers, a couple bikinis, sneakers, and a sweatshirt.

What can you not leave home without?

My bikini.

Can you recommend a book that’s great to read whilst on holiday?

The Glass Castle was the book that inspired me to finish writing my memoir, Must Girls Love. It teaches you that nothing is shameful to share, that we connect deeper with honesty.

Do you have a favourite app for travel?

I’m not a huge app enthusiast, but I do always use Google maps for almost everything, especially searching restaurants and hotels.

What is your best tip for anyone about to go travelling?

Choose a destination based on the type of weather you most enjoy. For me, if I’m somewhere cold, I’m miserable. Weather and sunshine is an absolute must!

Where are you going to go to next?

Most likely Cabo this Fall, and then choosing a couple countries in South America for the winter.
